Halterna av s\u00e4llsynta jordartsmetaller \u00e4r tio g\u00e5nger h\u00f6gre \u00e4n i Kirunamalmen d\u00e4r vi bryter idag. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:15px;\"><span><span><span><span>\u2013 Bara sedan \u00e5rsskiftet har vi lyckats \u00f6ka mineraltillg\u00e5ngarna v\u00e4sentligt f\u00f6r s\u00e5v\u00e4l j\u00e4rn som fosfor och s\u00e4llsynta jordartsmetaller. Och vi har inte sett slutet p\u00e5 fyndigheten, s\u00e4ger Jan Mostr\u00f6m.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:15px;\"><span><span><span><span>Om bearbetningskoncessionen godk\u00e4nns f\u00e5r vi forts\u00e4tta utveckla fyndigheten och f\u00f6rbereda en milj\u00f6tillst\u00e5ndsans\u00f6kan. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:15px;\"><span><span><span><span>\u2013 Det betyder d\u00e4remot inte att vi f\u00e5r tillst\u00e5nd att starta en gruva. Bearbetningskoncessionen \u00e4r ocks\u00e5 bara en del av det komplexa svenska pr\u00f6vningssystemet. Nu b\u00f6rjar tillst\u00e5ndsprocessen, och vi som verkat i omr\u00e5det \u00f6ver 130 \u00e5r s\u00f6ker nu det f\u00f6rsta tillst\u00e5ndet f\u00f6r Per Geijer som ger LKAB ensamr\u00e4tt att forts\u00e4tta utreda denna fantastiska mineralisering, s\u00e4ger Jan Mostr\u00f6m. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:15px;\"><span><span><span><span>\u2013 Utan gruvor blir det inga elbilar, och dessutom ett v\u00e4xande och mer riskabelt beroende av stora r\u00e5varul\u00e4nder som Kina och Ryssland. Under kommande \u00e5rtionden \u00f6kar behovet m\u00e5ngfalt av en rad mineral s\u00e5som s\u00e4llsynta jordartsmetaller till f\u00f6ljd av elektrifieringen. Vi ser att vi vill och att vi kan vara en del av l\u00f6sningen, f\u00f6r att m\u00f6jligg\u00f6ra klimatomst\u00e4llningen, och \u00e4ven f\u00f6r Europas s\u00e4kerhet och konkurrenskraft, s\u00e4ger Jan Mostr\u00f6m. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:15px;\"><span><span><span><span><strong>Kan f\u00f6rl\u00e4nga Kirunagruvans drift i minst 20 till 30 \u00e5r<\/strong><br \/><span>LKAB redovisar idag att fyndigheten inneh\u00e5ller mineraltillg\u00e5ngar p\u00e5 734 miljoner ton j\u00e4rnmalm, med h\u00f6ga j\u00e4rnhalter och mer \u00e4n 1,3 miljoner ton s\u00e4llsynta jordartsmetallsoxider in situ. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Fyndigheten var d\u00e5 den offentliggjordes i januari 2023 redan d\u00e5 den st\u00f6rsta rapporterade fyndigheten f\u00f6r s\u00e4llsynta jordartsmetaller i Europa. Idag \u00e4r Europa kraftigt beroende av import av s\u00e4llsynta jordartsmetaller fr\u00e5n huvudsakligen Kina. <\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:15px;\"><span><span><span><span><span>\u2013 Att det \u00e4r en sammansatt fyndighet, med j\u00e4rnmalm som bas, g\u00f6r den extra intressant. Utan j\u00e4rnmalmen skulle det inte vara h\u00e5llbart att bryta fosfor och s\u00e4llsynta jordartsmetaller h\u00e4r. Med det vi ser idag s\u00e5 skulle en framtida gruvbrytning handla om en \u00f6kad livsl\u00e4ngd med minst 20 till 30 \u00e5r, det blir avg\u00f6rande f\u00f6r att kunna forts\u00e4tta bedriva verksamhet i Kiruna, s\u00e4ger Jan Mostr\u00f6m.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:15px;\"><span><span><span><span><span>\u2013 Det h\u00e4r visar vilka fantastiska m\u00f6jligheter vi har i Kiruna och ger oss f\u00f6ruts\u00e4ttningar att skapa framtidstro och forts\u00e4tta utveckla kommunen och locka fler inv\u00e5nare. Kiruna \u00e4r redan viktigt f\u00f6r Sverige och f\u00f6r Europa, den positionen st\u00e4rks nu. Vi ser fram mot processen d\u00e4r LKAB skapar en h\u00e5llbar och effektiv brytning av fyndigheten, s\u00e4ger Mats Taaveniku, kommunalr\u00e5d i Kiruna.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:15px;\"><span><span><span><span><span>I fyndigheten finns dessutom h\u00f6ga halter av fosfor, ett n\u00f6dv\u00e4ndigt n\u00e4rings\u00e4mne i mineralg\u00f6dsel som m\u00f6jligg\u00f6r h\u00e4lften av den globala livsmedelsproduktionen. \u00c4ven f\u00f6r den kritiska r\u00e5varan fosfor \u00e4r Europa idag importberoende till cirka 80 procent. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:15px;\"><span><span><span><span><span>\u2013 Kan vi bryta detta s\u00e5 skulle vi p\u00e5tagligt kunna st\u00e4rka Europas sj\u00e4lvf\u00f6rs\u00f6rjning av fosfor<\/span>. Det \u00e4r inte bara en ekonomisk fr\u00e5ga f\u00f6r oss utan ytterst \u00e4ven en beredskapsfr\u00e5ga, s\u00e4ger Jan Mostr\u00f6m.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:15px;\"><span><span><span><span><strong>EU f\u00f6rv\u00e4ntar sig tillst\u00e5ndsprocesser som tar maximalt tv\u00e5 \u00e5r<\/strong><br \/>Samtidigt \u00e4r LKAB tidigt i processen. Om bearbetningskoncessionen godk\u00e4nns ger den LKAB f\u00f6ruts\u00e4ttningar att investera i de omfattande unders\u00f6kningar som kr\u00e4vs som underlag f\u00f6r beslut om en eventuell framtida gruvdrift. F\u00f6r att f\u00e5 \u00f6ppna en gruva kr\u00e4vs \u00e4ven tillst\u00e5nd enligt milj\u00f6balken fr\u00e5n mark- och milj\u00f6domstolen. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:15px;\"><span><span><span><span>\u2013 Vi upplever en \u00f6kad medvetenhet om behovet av metaller och mineral f\u00f6r elektrifiering och den gr\u00f6na omst\u00e4llningen. Samtidigt \u00e4r Europas stora importberoende n\u00e5got som oroar s\u00e5v\u00e4l inom industrin som politiken. I Europa talas nu om tv\u00e5 \u00e5r f\u00f6r tillst\u00e5nd f\u00f6r strategiskt viktiga mineral som de s\u00e4llsynta jordartsmetallerna, men v\u00e5r erfarenhet \u00e4r att det kan ta mellan 10 och 15 \u00e5r f\u00f6r att ta sig igenom det komplexa svenska pr\u00f6vningssystemet. Bearbetningskoncessionen \u00e4r bara en del av detta. S\u00e5 det h\u00e4r kommer att bli ett viktigt test om systemet f\u00f6r tillst\u00e5nd klarar av att m\u00f6ta omv\u00e4rldens f\u00f6rv\u00e4ntningar, s\u00e4ger Jan Mostr\u00f6m.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:15px;\"><span><span><span><span>Fr\u00e5gan om utdragna och of\u00f6ruts\u00e4gbara tillst\u00e5ndspr\u00f6vningar har debatterats flitigt under senare \u00e5r, och nuvarande och tidigare regeringar har lovat reformer f\u00f6r att en kritisk klimatomst\u00e4llning inte ska falla p\u00e5 byr\u00e5kratiska formkrav utan betydelse f\u00f6r milj\u00f6n.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:15px;\"><span><span><span><span>\u2013 Vi \u00e4r positivt inst\u00e4llda till h\u00e5rda milj\u00f6krav och ska ta stort ansvar f\u00f6r den p\u00e5verkan som v\u00e5r verksamhet orsakar. Det finns till exempel en oro f\u00f6r hur renn\u00e4ringen ska p\u00e5verkas av en ny gruva i omr\u00e5det, och det har vi f\u00f6rst\u00e5else f\u00f6r. Dessutom ber\u00f6rs popul\u00e4ra friluftsomr\u00e5den. Vi \u00e4r fortfarande tidigt i processen och det \u00e4r en l\u00e5ng v\u00e4g fram till en eventuell brytning. Vi \u00e4r lyh\u00f6rda, och har ambition att l\u00f6sa fr\u00e5gorna p\u00e5 v\u00e4gen. Men vi beh\u00f6ver ocks\u00e5 engagemang fr\u00e5n intressenter och myndigheter i processen f\u00f6r komma fram\u00e5t p\u00e5 ett snabbt, effektivt och r\u00e4ttss\u00e4kert s\u00e4tt, s\u00e4ger Jan Mostr\u00f6m. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:15px;\"><span><span><span><span><strong>Uppdatering av mineraltillg\u00e5ngar <\/strong><br \/><span>Resultatet f\u00f6r j\u00e4rn och fosfor i fyndigheten st\u00e5r i tabell 1 i enlighet med rapporteringsstandarden PERC 2021, vilket \u00e4r r\u00e5dande internationella standarden.<br \/>Tabell 2 visar den konstaterade mineraltillg\u00e5ngen f\u00f6r TREO in situ f\u00f6r Per Geijer.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:15px;\"><span><span><span><span><span>En Fosfor \u00e5terfinns p\u00e5 EU:s lista \u00f6ver 30 kritiska r\u00e5material. Gemensamt f\u00f6r dessa r\u00e5material \u00e4r att de \u00e4r viktiga f\u00f6r Europas industri och ekonomi, att EU \u00e4r importberoende och att det finns en stor risk f\u00f6r f\u00f6rs\u00f6rjningsavbrott, till exempel relaterat till geopolitiska risker.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><span><span><span><span><span>\u00c4ven s\u00e4llsynta jordartsmetaller finns med p\u00e5 listan \u00f6ver kritiska r\u00e5material. Europa har ingen egen gruvbrytning av dessa. Kina dominerar s\u00e5v\u00e4l brytning som f\u00f6r\u00e4dling, medan Europa har ett stort beroende av jordartsmetaller till de permanentmagneter som kr\u00e4vs f\u00f6r elmotorer till de elbilar och vindkraftverk som beh\u00f6vs f\u00f6r den gr\u00f6na omst\u00e4llningen.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span><span><span><span><span><span>EU \u00e4r idag n\u00e4stan helt importberoende n\u00e4r det g\u00e4ller permanentmagneter med jordartsmetaller, varav mer \u00e4n 90 procent produceras i Kina. Fr\u00e5n och med 2035 \u00e4r det dessutom f\u00f6rbjudet att s\u00e4lja nya bensin- och dieselbilar, samtidigt som en elbil kr\u00e4ver sex g\u00e5nger mer mineral \u00e4n en konventionell bil.
